The Better Sweat Foundation was built on a simple but powerful belief: financial barriers shouldn’t stand in the way of building a family.

Fertility treatments are a reality for many hopeful parents, but the cost—often tens of thousands of dollars—makes it impossible for some to even try.

For Matt and Lynn April, this struggle was personal. As co-owners of Bent On Better, a private fitness facility, they experienced firsthand the challenges of infertility. They were fortunate—insurance helped cover their treatments, and in 2016, they welcomed their first son. But they knew that for many, the financial burden alone could mean the difference between having a child or not.

Determined to give back, they hosted their first fitness fundraiser in 2017, just before their son’s first birthday. What started as a small act of gratitude quickly grew into something much bigger—a community-driven effort to support couples on their own path to parenthood.

By 2021, the impact was undeniable. To ensure the mission could continue for years to come, they officially launched The Better Sweat Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to providing financial grants for fertility treatments.

Since then, this movement has expanded into a partnership with a local fertility clinic, a volunteer team of dedicated Bent On Better members, and a growing community that shows up year after year to make a difference.

To date, 8 families and 8 babies have been supported through this foundation—with over $21,000 given in grants.

Because no one should have to give up on the dream of family because of a price tag.
