Officially established in 2021, the Better Sweat Foundation was founded on the idea that financial constraint should not be the limiting factor in expanding a family. So many people find themselves in need of fertility treatment, which can be cost prohibitive even with insurance.
When Matt and Lynn April, co-owners of a private fitness facility called Bent On Better, found themselves in need of fertility treatment, they were so grateful that their treatments were covered by insurance. Recognizing this was a privilege that not many folks have, they decided to hold their first fitness fundraiser in April 2017 just before their son turned a year old and donate all of the proceeds to a local couple in need of financial assistance.
Their cause grew bigger and better every year following, and to date, they have been able to help six different couples have more than six babies total through grants that offset the financial burden of those couples’ treatments.
